If you get this problem in the BackWPup plugin you don’t have the cURL library installed.

This is easily fixed with this command

sudo apt-get install php5-curl

Apache should automatically restart but if you still get this error do

sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 restart

to restart apache

    hello Nimmis,

I’ve got the same problem with BackWpup. Where do I put the code. I’m new to wordpress (someone else did my web site for me) and i’m slowly, and sometimes painfully, trying do do all the new stuff myself. So if you answer this e-mail please assume I know nothing. I read the wordpress forums but a lot of it goes right over my head. I’ve already posted on a wordpress forum but, so far, no one has replied.

    Cheers,

    Gordon.

    gordon-
hopefully you’ve got it figured out by now (2yrs later…) but for anyone else running into this… you need to issue the commands on the actual server itself where the website is hosted in a terminal program.
